You have to install the software and I would suggest reading instructions before beginning. That's good, I am due for inspection soon. I think it's three vehicles, that must be registered on their website.
It's very simple and easy to use and does show if there are any problems with your vehicle. Mind you, the dashboard did not have any warnings that were lit up and there would have been no other way for me to know. I spoke with my new training class at work. Then we entered the info for my Mazda, which also has a red engine light appearing. I highly recommend buying this product! You can only store 3 vehicles, and can only delete/add one vehicle a year. I look forward to looking at the device in the future, but so far, so good! I have four. Good thing the other is too old for this tester anyways! He has tried other code readers in the past but liked this one better. The system itself works well, even though there was nothing wrong with my car at the time; it told me about recalls and available technical service bulletins (which is extremely useful)! I think this will be his favorite Christmas present ever.
He's not a computer person, so simpler is better. One particular thing that I liked was that it tells you (once you get online) if your vehicle would pass an emissions test.
My car is in bad shape I've taken it to the shop twice in the last 2 months and its still bad. I can hook it up to my computer and find out whats wrong with any of my cars. I bought the CarMD product at a discount, and I received it about a week ago. The booklet that comes with the device does not list any of these codes or icons, and while I can find some of them on the web, it would still take me hours to figure out what it all meant.
I first picked this up as part of a help guide on Amazon.
